Brothers Carvalho bring home the point
A well earned first point of the season for the M2s after a battling display against newly promoted Wycombe.
The first half saw both sides struggling to create meaningfiul link up play and chances. Wycombe took the lead from the their first penalty corner after 28 minutes, but within four minutes the home side were level. After Gabriel Carvalho's drag flick was saved by the keeper to his right, brother Finn was on hand to put the rebound into the roof of the net.
Wycombe probably edged the second half forcing a number of penaly corners, however they found Havant keeper Tim Hoare, aided by his defence, in fine form. Havant took the lead on 42 minutes from their second penaty corner. This time, Gabriel required no assistance to find the back of the net. Havant continued to work hard to disrupt the opposition, and although there was one close scare, it looked increasingly likely the home team would hold on for a win. However with ten minutes to go, Wycombe reacted quicker to pick up a rebound after a first shot on goal had been well saved. The home fans had one more tense moment, when Wycombe won a penalty corner on the final whistle. Tim Hoare mad another good save to his right and the point was secured.
There were six man of the match nominations after the game, reflecting this was very much a team effort.
