18/11/23 : Mens 6 vs Alton 4

Home - Havant College

Won 7 - 0

Havant 6s welcomed Alton 4s to the college for our next challenge in our new league.

The match started slow, with Alton taking the direct approach, and pinning the 6s in our defensive third for the first phase of the game.

Then a swift clearance to Will in centre midfield, opened a gap in the Alton unit, the ball went out to Dozza, who ran at the Alton defence and won a short corner. The ball went top D to Dozza who flshed a shot hard and low, that was turned over the line by Steve, to make it 1 - 0.

Havant were straight back on the offensive from the restart and set up camp in the Alton half. The high press holding most attempts to escape and winning a another short corner, our 5th of the game, this one slotted home by Dozza for his 1st 6s goal.

At the reset, Webby subbed on for Steve, eager to get his name on the scoresheet. It didn't take long, for Ben to fire a long ball, through a gap created by Will making a dummy run to his left, through to Webby for a 1 v1 with the GK, Webby opted for placement over power, and the GK managed to get a toe on it  (somehow winning a 16?!?)

Half time came soon after. 2 - 0 at the break.

The team talk included some of the 6s greatest hits, communication, match pace, roll out, switch it and, play like you want to win!

The team reverted to how they started the game, with the exception of Webby staying on instead of Steve who needed to "warm up" (his wam up lasted 25 minutes!!)

4 minutes into the 2nd half, Webby flashed a shot just over the bar, from a tight angle. And 3 minutes later, span his maker in the D and slotted a shot inside the near post, 3-0 Havant.

7 minutes later, Havant Won a short corner, the ball went wide to Webby rather than top D, confusing the defensive line and allowing the ball to be thumped home. 4-0.

2 minutes later, repeat situation, exept the ball went top D to Owain, who slotted the ball Wide to Webby unmarked. 5-0

Alton woke up for a few minutes at this point with a spell of combined pressure and a couple of successive wasted short corners.

27 minutes in and Will U went on a mazy run and had a shot at goal, that was kicked over the line by an Alton defender. 2 jammy goals in 2 weeks!! But they all count.

1 minute before the end, Webby found himself recieving the ball in the Alton D, and could hear Ben miles half time dig ringing in his ears, smashing the ball at waist hight across the goal into the net. Owain taking evasive maneuvers in the process.

All in all a great game to boost the goal difference and the back 3 never truly being tested. Solid performances to continue building on and a 4th win in a row to take into next weeks game.
